Our Story
Our story as Ridgeview Hope Church begins with Pleasanton Evangelical Free Church (PEFC), which was planted by Walnut Creek Evangelical Free Church in 1968. Over the years, God worked in many ways through PEFC as different people came and went. However, in the late 1990’s, we began to pray about selling a part of our land so that we could build a new facility. Finally, the idea was proposed: Why not ask God about selling the entire property and finding a new location?
Over time, we formed a replant team, called an associate pastor, set a new mission, vision, and set of values, and then sold our land and began remodel the facility where we meet today. There were some obstacles in the process, but we kept pursuing what we believe God had called us to, and—while remaining as a part of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA)— we changed our name to Ridgeview Hope Church (stemming from the “Ridge” in Pleasanton and the theme of “hope” from Psalm 121:1-2).
As the remodeling process of our facility neared completion, we made the move to our new location in the Hacienda Business Park of Pleasanton and began to have parking lot services in 2018. Finally, on February 10, 2019, we held our official launch service and have been ministering to the surrounding community ever since. We are so grateful to God for His grace and kindness to our church, and we are overjoyed to be a part of His continued, reconciliatory work in the Bay Area and beyond!
